Week 5 - Wilfs Cafe. Sorry about the delay in posting the results, etc. I have been away as 'Chief Oiler' to one of the bikes at the MTBO World Champs in France.

The last event was on some tricky lanes, it was hard to keep the speed up with all the hills, tight corners and muddy puddles! Henry Syska did extremely well to get 30, he must have put in some brave riding. The controls were cunningly distributed and the full extent of the map was used. The 4 controls out on a limb in the Docker / Grayrigg area made for selective route planning. The controls I chose to leave out were 19 and 24. I feel sorry for the people on the horse and trap intending to have a nice ride out around some quiet lanes. They must have had around 50 bikers to contend with before they had finished. I met them at the crossroads between 17 and 20.

Do you think the series has gone well this year?, I am very happy with 4th place considering its my 1st go, but will be back next year aiming higher. I looked at the results from last years, and there seems to be a variety of times, like 1 and half hour events etc. So presumably things have been done to a more consistent standard this year?"

Winning Route: Thanks to Henry Syska for letting us have his route: 1, 10, 11, 2, 3, 25, 27, 30, 29, 28, 26, 23, 22, 21, 17, 18, 20, 24, 19, 4, 5, 6, 7, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 8, 9.
I could have left out 16,15,14 if I had been short of time and there was a fast downhill finish from 14 south. I am sure Paul Trott would have covered the course even faster if he had competed.
