44hrs 50 minutes!

Paul Claveys Lake district Tri!

Starting on Saturday 23rd July, 6am, local Paul Clavey embarked on a unique Lake District triathlon challenge.
Back in 2007 he became the first person to combine a length of lake coniston swim with the Fred Whitton altChallenge and Bob Graham round, completing all three disciplines in 43.5 hours, non stop.
This time Paul was attempting to surpass this by swimming the 10.5 miles of Lake Windermere, from Fellfoot to Waterhead in Ambleside, followed again by the Fred Whitton and finally the Bob Graham Round. Each of these are serious undertakings in their own right and this will be another first in endurance challenges combining the regions longest lake, toughest bike ride and most famous and arduous fell running challenge. alt
Paul was supported by numerous friends and family along the way and 'powered' by 'Wilf's Away meals & cakes!

At 0250 Monday 25th he completed the challenge - 44 hrs 50 minutesalt
Well done Paul, what a fantastic achievment!

10.5 miles - Length Windermere - 5hrs 15 minutes

112 miles - Fred Whitton Bike Challenge - 8 hours 15 minutes

72 miles - The Bob Graham circuit - 26 hours 50 minutes

I know these times don't add up to 44 hrs 50 minutes but he had to eat our food in between!
